The last year had some really sad moments, we lost some of our precious furries. In the pictures here you see Nicky. We never knew how old she was when we got her but we were able to give 6 years in our family.

Nicky had seizures that were becoming more and more severe. The decision that had to be made was awful and very hard. She came to use as a stray, a little tiny kitten. She never got bigger.
We also lost Kahn the Collie and Chico the Chihuahua . Kahn had had a very rough life when we got him at 6 years old from the humane society. It toke 2 years for him to not be scared if someone suddenly stood up. He was afraid of feet. I do not think i have to explain to any of you why that was right?
We met Chico at the humane society whiles we were looking for a cat. He would not leave my lap lol. He had been adopted out several times we were told but people had brought him back. My husband was (lol) very resistant in taking home such a little yapper hahaha. But home Chico came with us lol, he won and hubby and him became best friends. Chico was same age as Kahn when we got him. Kahn was getting very senile and Chico forgot where he was and got seizures on top of that.
As hard as it is at some point with as many animals as we have ( all rescue) one has to make decisions that are hard . R.I.P my lovelies.
On another note we have still lots of furries left and we are grateful for them, they are such a big part of our lives. Harlow, Whitney, Amber, Buddy (all dogs), Scooter, Hatty, Kismet and Bijoux ( all cats).
Well that is it for today folks. Did not mean to make you sad, just sharing the wonderful furries that have left us last year and crossed the rainbow bridge. We will never forget them they will always be in our hearts. I wish all of you a wonderful day, take care stay safe and hug your furry friends if you have them.
Hi there peeps. Little post only today. It is a mixed media canvas board that can be used as a picture frame for smaller picture. As you can see i blotted out the price tag so i would not get in trouble with blogger. Stupid me forgot to take a picture of it before putting it up for sale in a local store grrr..
It is not sold yet so if you are interested send me a email. The colors have a shimmer to them which you cannot see on this picture. Anyway wanted to share this with you :)
Have a wonderful day peeps and stay safe and take care,
Hug,
Andrea.

What can i say, this canvas just "happened". It had been laying around for a while being discarded because it was a unsatisfying accomplishment at that point. So i dived into it with nothing to loose and this is the end result. No planning no idea where it would take me. I have to admit it is very relaxing to play this way lol.
Getting the little vile to stay on the page required some experimenting, but it worked this way. it is a plastic vile. Was not sure bout the safety of handling the album with glass in it.
Yes..its a real silver spoon that was tortured till it was flat.
Hammer and small anvil did the trick lol. I glued the bottom part onto the page then secured it with some die cut grungeboard. Using Tim Holz die of course lol.
Today posting couple pictures of an album i am working on.
Actually its the first 2 pages..lol. It seems i am picky on the lay out of the pages, this is what takes me more time then actually making them. You see them as not fully embellished yet tho. While working on the pages, embellishments that could be bit more bulky or in the way of making the backsides of the pages, i write those down so i dont forget them. When the album is about finished i will add them.

Maybe not the regular way its done, but it works for me :) . Above is the cover( not fully embellished as i want it to be either yet. "sigh" Colors are lot more vibrant then the pictures show here on the blog, sorry.
Hmm front and back of the "Butterfly bliss". Blogger messed with the following order and would not let me change that..grr...

After making these, i wanted a 3d corset. So that is what i made, then a light came on. (in my head sometimes to much of that but ok, this time it worked lol) I wanted tutu"s. ( sure hope i wrote that right).
Swann lake came to mind, so i just had to make the white and the black swann tutu. Makes sense right?

Just not sitting here waiting for half an hour for things to load. So if blogger works good i will post if not, i will move on to something else to do with my day lol.
This one is one of my favorites. Stamped velum ( Halloween stamps)backed with cheesecloth.
To make it all "stick" together I used wonder under. When finished I glued the pieces of black lace on top of the petals.
This last one is fabric paper like the one on top. I made sheets of it big enough to make 2 or 3 flowers. Some of you might have seen tutorials bout these wire flowers in Somerset magazine. the only thing I did not do according to the tutorial was, that I did not cut out the petals piece for piece.
I hold the flowers upside down on top of the fabric I am going to use, then cut out the approximate size. make a small hole in the middle to pull the stem thru and voila you can stitch it on. Less hassle I my opinion. But to each their own right.
Well that is it for today talks. If any question, go ahead ask.
Take care everyone be safe,
Hello there peeps.
I hope this post finds you all well. Its been a while since I posted but here is one now .
This piece I started before I went in for my second operation this year. I hope to get it finished before this year ends lol.
The inspiration for this piece comes from Ruth Rae's book, "layered, tattered &stitched".

The front consists of my own hand dyed fabric and free motion stitching. Its needs something more but not sure what yet.
The bottom lace was dyed in same bath as the fabric. it is interesting how different fabric come out in such different colors. The 2 buttons used where cut from some vintage cloths I found on a yard sale.
Thinking of doing some hand beading and more stitching.
Well that's it for now guys. Wishing you all a fabulous day/evening/afternoon and take care .
Of course you have ( please tell me you did :)), we are artists and that makes us explorers right? It means we try things and sometimes they go not the way we planned.
The pictures included in this post are about a project that screamed Fail. So i put it asides for while till i would have an idea what to do with it. I don't just throw things away, if i did i would not be able to sleep at night thinking that maybe i could have done something with it. (sigh)
After rolling layers of paint ,stitching, sanding, hand painting, more stitching, i think i saved this piece from the trash. And nope not gonna tell you what it original should have been either hahahaa.
A decorative pillowcase it has become, let me know what you think.
Hope all of you have a wonderful awesome creative day.
Big hug,
Hye peeps hope this post finds you all well. Fully recovered from my operation and now heading towards the end of a very stubborn flu..yay!!
Wanted to show you my first needle sculpted doll face.
The people i did show her too told me she looks like Sher. ( if Sher ever reads this she is probably not going to feel flattered, my apologies ahead Sher.)

So yes i named her Sher. Her and me don't seem to see eye to eye bout her clothes (sigh, pop star issues already??) Lets not even mention the shoes, she thinks i made her feet ugly and would not let me photograph them (sigh..again) So the decision is made no clothes till we both agree upon them.
I am really glad i gave her at least some underwear (sigh..again..) or this blog be in lotsa trouble i suppose, LOL.
Everyone have a great day and take care,
Then gave the sewing machine a workout on it. For contrast i used black and colored felt. I had the need for making something colorful and easy and that's exactly what this was. Think i got all the doctor appointments and hospital stuff behind me now for a while. On my way to getting to feel much better and so much less tired. Ahh enough of that on with the show..lol.
On my search to find and learn more mixed media and fiber art techniques i found Angie Huges book "STITCH,CLOTH,PAPER & PAINT". Her projects she takes you thru in her book and the techniques used are just awesomely fun to learn and to do and ones learned it takes you to that "what if?" stage. I wanted to share some "what if's" with you in here and see what you think. Its all bout achieving more or different texture. Unfortunately like most of my pictures in the blog, somehow the colors fade more then i want them to when i post. But i hope you will bare with me.In her book, Angie's projects are rich colorful and almost sparkly. I think i got pretty close results?! What you think?
Now i am working on ideas on how to use these pieces ( that does not mean any suggestions will be turned away :) )
I am waiting for one more project to dry, this one is more of the "following the book" kind.
When it is dry i will post it in the next post, to give you a comparison. I do recommend if your interests are in same direction as mine and you have not checked this book out yet,to go find it and have a closer look. At the same time as i am posting this i am thinking of how i can integrate this kind of cloth with my fabric dolls. Grr...now to many ideas coming up at ones..lol..i am sure most of you know that feeling.
Will keep you posted what i come up with.
Take care peeps, till soon.
Andrea.Talking Horses Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12557000004280252874noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3177065714236342038.post-14401048297204152012012-02-28T09:48:00.006-08:002012-02-28T10:14:03.615-08:00Doll..

Hello there peeps, been a long time i know.
Computer crash, sinus infections and some other health issues that include an operation soon have been taking my mojo. I know to late for pink Saturday lol. To many scraps in my stash, was time to find ways to make something with it. I actually do not mind using scraps.
Smaller projects are fun and very satisfying since they take shorter time to finish.

Anyway, what your looking at is a page for a fabric book that will have dreaming and wishing as theme. I think you kinda can guess that reading the little banner lol.

The banner was made from 2 dryer sheet modpodged together with some dry brushed pink paint on them. Then i distressed them some with ink.

The card in the picture above is fabric on top of some thinner cardboard. I coffe dyed it then sprinkled water on it to make it look stained. The girl was printed on fabric and glued on top.
She will go in the pocket that i made for her on this page. The page by the way is not finished yet as you see. I need to hand stitch the edge on the right hand side. Its an old seam from an pink satin dress, it came out irregular when i cut some fabric from it. Though i would leave it like this to add some extra interest.
Well that's the pink post for now folks. Hope you all take care and stay safe.
Big Hug,
Andrea.Talking Horses Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12557000004280252874noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3177065714236342038.post-53077417300324601672011-08-29T08:36:00.001-07:002011-08-29T08:57:35.696-07:00Cream with my coffee.. Hi there peeps hope this post finds you all well.

Since i dont have any real vintage buttons and cannot effort any. I had to get creative and modpodge paper to these. I think they came out pretty good?!

The big thingy under her pic is an old belt buckle. Have not figured out yet how to attach it on there, same with the cardboard. But they are going to be attached on there without no doubt, soon as i know how lol.

Its kinda thick but this way is a good base for the heavier stuff to be attached.

The flowers are made as in my lace paper flower tutorial. This time all is stained with coffee. When you look really close you can see some coffee grinds on them lol. I restained them when they were drying with the modpodge not thinking that the grinds would be unremoveable afterwards hahaha. But it seemed it added some texture to them so i don't mind it.
Well that my post for now folks. Hope you all stay well and safe and have a wonderful creative day!

I will just hang it up in the studio and look at it time to time and see what happens.
Tho no harm done in a couple of extra eyes and opinions right?( hint hint..lol)
I also want to add some words to it. Just haven't found them yet but i am sure i will at some point. This is the first time i tried a collage like this, think i like doing them. Might make more at some point. Plus i really like the smell of the coffee dyed fabric lol.
Well peeps have a wonderful creative day, stay safe, take care...
Today a very short post and a simple made tag. Tried the less is good to thingy lol.
The weekend has been slow but i finally have my sewing machine back. Yayyyy!!
Also trying to catch up with some housework and yard work this week. might be i am not posting to much this week to get things done. For me personally when all is done i am more at ease in my studio.
Friday is going to be fun day at a dental specialist for an abscess in my jaw...soooooo looking forward to that..NOT!
Thursday is counseling to help me battle a depression i don't seem to be able to get rid off. Not complaining folks, just letting you know that this week is going to be messed up lol. I really want to try to spent as much time as i can in my studio tho. Its one of the things that makes me feel better, so off i go..;)
Anyways hope everyone has a wonderful creative day!
Big Hug,
Andrea.
